Hello St. Thomas Parishioners,
 
The Society of St Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic lay organization that leads men and women together, to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to our neighbors in need. Our STA conference members are called to a life of holiness, friendship, and service to the poor. We provide assistance with rent, utilities, food, and toiletries to those in our parish boundaries
 
Over the last year, the ministry has deeply impacted our community. The Vincentians (volunteers), though many parts of one body of Christ, were the face of Christ to our neighbors by serving them according to the will of God and through guidance of the Holy Spirit. This work was not easy, but it was rewarding, ten-fold!  

Here’s a year-end update on how the St. Thomas Aquinas St. Vincent de Paul conference was Christ-like to our neighbors!
 

• Answered over a 1,000 hotline calls which touched the lives of approximately 1,800 neighbors. The value of this is close to $180,000.
• Conducted 181 Home Visits
• Conducted 63 Telephone Visits
• Conducted 217 pantry visits
• Provided $8,580 in-kind senior meals
• Provided $18,000 in-kind legal services
• Referred our neighbors to 134 agencies
• Served 83 Thanksgiving meals which nourished 271 neighbors
• Through our Magi Tree program, we also were blessed to provide over 1,000 Christmas gifts to 563 neighbors

 
The Vincentian, using their time, talent, and treasure, provided these services making all things possible through and with God. We’ve volunteered 2,782 hours and traveled 8,242 miles to visit with our neighbors (this is a 1/3 of the way around the planet Earth!).
 
YOU, the St Thomas Aquinas Parish, made a huge impact as well. Without your treasure, our neighbors would not have been able to pay rent, utilities, or have something to eat.
 

• $158,340 went to pay rent for our neighbors
• $9,873 went to pay for utilities
• $9,968 went to pay for food, toiletries, and diapers

WE NEED YOU!

Now that you have seen the fruits of the Holy Spirit for the ministry, we invite you to prayerfully discern your spiritual gifts with the guidance of the Holy Spirit to come join us, committing in our faith through the good work of serving those most in need in the midst of our neighborhood, being Christ-like to others.  Please know, there is a deep need for Spanish-speaking Vincentians. If you have these gifts, please prayerful discern joining St. Vincent de Paul. Come walk with others, showing them Christ.
 
Remember – God is good, and the fruits of the Holy Spirt multiple when we all cooperate with the Holy Spirit by saying “YES”.
