From the beginnings of Judeo-Christian worship, cantors have facilitated the prayer of the faithful and proclaimed the Word of God in song. A present-day cantor at St. Thomas Aquinas is a person of faith, possessed of a pleasant voice, who leads the congregation in chant and song. Cantors lead at the Sunday masses at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 12:45 p.m., as well as at liturgies for Holy Days and other special occasions. Requirements include the ability to read and prepare music on one's own, as well as reliability and punctuality. Membership in the St. Thomas Aquinas adult choirs is preferred.
