Music plays a vital role in the liturgy at St. Thomas. The participation in choir offers the unique opportunity for the children to grow in their faith as well as impact their families, church, and community. St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church is affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music in America.
The Cantate Choir rehearses on Mondays (3:00-4:15 pm) at the Lower School. They sing at the Sunday Mass and also for Masses on Christmas Eve and Easter. At the end of the spring semester, the choristers will present a concert for parents and the congregation. Emphasis is given to developing the singing voice, rhythmic literacy and overall musicianship.
The St. Thomas Choristers rehearse from 3:15-4:15 on Tuesdays at the Lower School. They sing monthly at Sunday Masses, Christmas Eve and Easter Masses, and sing often for St. Thomas Aquinas School Masses. Together with the other choristers, they present a concert at the end of the school year.
The St. Thomas Choristers have the opportunity to participate in the Royal School of Church Music’s Voice for Life curriculum. This program teaches music theory, music history, liturgy, and offers medals that choristers can wear with their vestments signifying completion of each of the program’s five levels..
