Welcome! Congratulations on your engagement! It is our privilege to help you prepare for your life together in this beautiful sacrament.
Wedding Days and Times
Weddings at St. Thomas are on Saturdays at either 12:30 PM or 6:30 PM.
Basic Qualifications
- Either the bride or groom (or both) must be Catholic
- Both parties must be free to marry in the Catholic Church
- One or both parties must reside within the parish boundaries and/or be registered as a parishoner and attending mass at St. Thomas Aquinas for at least 3 months before beginning marriage preparation.
Time Needed for Preparation
Solid preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage takes time. Whether you are planning to marry at St. Thomas Aquinas or to do your marriage preparation here, we ask you to contact us six (6) to nine (9) months before your desired wedding date. It is especially important to contact the parish early for out of town and international weddings.Couples Now Living Together
We are happy to witness your marriage so that your living arrangements can be brought into harmony with God’s laws. We strongly encourage you to consider living apart during your engagement because engagement is a very critical time of discernment, and it is of profound importance that your choice to marry is made with total freedom. The posture of freedom can be more readily acheived when a couple lives in separate households.
In today's world, situations arise where may be impractical to live separately. When that is the case, we urge couples to strive to live together chastely and to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to their weddings.
MARRIAGE ORIENTATION
The first step for preparing for marriage at St. Thomas Aquinas is to register for and attend a Marriage Orientation Class.
Whether you plan to marry at St. Thomas or some other Church, registering for and attending the Marriage Orientation Class is the essential first step in marriage preparation here at St. Thomas Aquinas.You both must together attend a Marriage Orientation Class to be able schedule your First Clergy Meeting and all classes.
